OLEAN, N.Y. — CUTCO Cutlery is offering a free Holiday Survival Guide to help navigate this season of entertaining. The guide, with its 14 recipes, tips and video how-tos, offers culinary inspiration for the many holiday dinners and cocktail parties on the calendar.

Whether you’re sticking with the traditional this holiday season or throwing culinary caution to the wind, the booklet offers solutions for both menus from CUTCO’s Culinary Advisory Board. Recipes like roasted butter herbed turkey, pumpkin bread pudding and blue cheese walnut tartlets will get your cooking creativity flowing.

The guide also includes useful tips to help you de-stress as you plan and prepare. For example, Chef Susan Goss of Chicago’s West Town Tavern offers this tip: “Accept help. Holidays are always more fun if everyone gets to participate. If someone is a terrible cook, ask him or her to bring wine, pick up dessert or bring flowers.”

Cookbook author Judith Fertig also offers this advice, “Go with the flow. Set up snack and beverage stations so guests can help themselves — away from the kitchen.”

For those extra touches, the guide has video instructions from etiquette expert John Bourdage on the fleur-de-lis napkin fold, the proper place setting and wine pairings.

And, to take the guesswork out of turkey carving, the guide includes step-by-step illustrations and a video to walk you through the carving process.
